OC Plovdiv received the flag of the 2025 European Rowing Championship
On the final day of the European Rowing Championships, held this year in Szeged, Hungary, the host city handed over the flag to Plovdiv. The 2025 the European Rowing Championships
will take place in Plovdiv from May 29th to June 1st.
At the ceremonial event, the flag was symbolically handed over by the head of European Rowing, Annamarie Phelps, to Nikola Gospodarski – Competition Director of the Organizing
Committee of the European Rowing Championship in Plovdiv.
The Championships in Plovdiv will also include athletes with special needs, as reminded by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Ivan Popov, stating that his team already has
experience in preparing the Plovdiv rowing venue for para-athletes.
All the facilities at the regatta venue in Plovdiv are accessible for Para-rowers. “We will simply build on our experience from the 2018 World Rowing Championships," said Popov.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the early applications for participation in the Championships in Plovdiv from the UK and Dutch federations.
Partners in the organization of the European Rowing Championships are the Municipality of Plovdiv, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Bulgarian Rowing Federation.
"With our work on the organization of this elite competition, we aim to establish Plovdiv as a center for world rowing. Let's not forget the financial aspect of the championships, which,
besides its image, also brings good revenue to our city" concluded the chairman of the Organizing Committee, Ivan Popov.
