Plovdiv was awarded the 2026 World Rowing U19 Championships

Plovdiv has been awarded the 2026 World Rowing U19 Championships at the governing body's Congress. The 2022 World Rowing Congress took place in Prague, following the World Championships in Račice, with delegates from 39 National Federations attending in-person while 31 registered to take part remotely.

Shanghai and Amsterdam have been awarded hosting rights to the World Rowing Championships in 2025 and in 2026.

Shanghai was due to host the 2021 World Rowing Championships before they were cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It would have been the first time the event would have been held in China.

The 2023 World Rowing Congress is due to take place in the Serbian capital Belgrade on 11th September next year.

The World Rowing U19 Championships is expected to attract many participants from all around the world and also major spectators’ attendance as many families and friends would come to support their athletes.

The Plovdiv organising committee has gained extensive experience in delivering major international rowing events for the past decade. The city of Plovdiv hosted the 2021 World Rowing Junior Championships, as well as the World Rowing Cup I in 2019, the 2018 World Rowing Championships, the World Rowing U23 Championships in 2015 and 2017, the 2012 World Junior Championships and the 2011 European Rowing Championships.
